Oxplore Schools Resources

Oxplore is a University of Oxford outreach project bringing STEM and modern foreign languages to primary and secondary pupils. The project ran across three year groups, three times a year, for over five years.

The Oxplore website had an established brand, logo, colours, typefaces, and photography treatment, but the school’s outreach team needed something that could work in a classroom. That meant building an illustration style and visual framework from scratch, within the spirit of the existing brand but designed for print, for kids, and for teachers working under pressure.

The typeface was hand-drawn and built into a typeface platform, giving the materials a distinct personality that felt connected to Oxplore without just borrowing from the website. Layouts and illustration complexity adjusted across age groups: simpler, more visual work for younger pupils, denser pages and more detailed illustration for older ones.

Each session needed a workbook as a minimum, plus whatever else the subject called for. Cards, posters, worksheets, presentations, board games. A space-themed escape room set aboard a spaceship. Every project arrived as subject-specific content and rough structural notes, and left as a finished, print-ready resource. New subject, new format, new problem to solve, every time.

Education resources are a specialism I’ve built over many years for multiple clients, from lesson plans and teaching guides to in-class activity packs. The Oxplore work drew on all of that, at scale and under tight deadlines!

Let’s work together.
If you’ve got a project that needs clear, human-centred design, illustration, branding or a combo of all three, I’d love to work with you.
