Great Ormond Street Hospital & Charity Brand Illustrations

Great Ormond Street Hospital & Charity first approached me in 2018 following a brand refresh, via a competitive paid pitch. The brief was straightforward in principle: take the drawing style in the existing logo and build a full illustration library in the same spirit. Getting that foundation right mattered because everything that followed would need to match it.

Over 150 illustrated objects and concepts later, that original style is still the consistent thread running through the brand. The library has been used across hospital communications, website, social media, and promotional materials by the in-house design team and their agencies.

Along the way, I contributed to the Build It Beat It campaign, GOSH Charity’s most ambitious fundraising appeal. Working with animation studio Broken Antler, I created storyboards and illustrations for the campaign animation, working from a provided script as part of a wider live-action film. My job was to translate that script into illustrated frames before Broken Antler brought them to life on screen.

Most recently, I created illustrations for their 2025 strategy document. This involved three scenes and individual elements designed to accompany their copy. The space theme was set, but the layouts and how everything would fit together were worked out collaboratively. Seven years in, and the relationship is still going strong.

Let’s work together.
If you’ve got a project that needs clear, human-centred design, illustration, branding or a combo of all three, I’d love to work with you.
