Design and Illustration for Education & Science
Education is one of the most demanding briefs there is. Your audience might be five years old or twenty-five. The subject matter could be anything from fractions to financial literacy, consent to climate change. And the materials you produce need to work in a real classroom, with real teachers, for real children.
I’ve worked with educators, universities, outreach teams and curriculum developers across primary, secondary and higher education for over fifteen years. I understand how to design and illustrate for different ages and abilities, handle sensitive subject matter with care, and turn complex ideas into something genuinely accessible.

What I Offer
Illustration for Learning Materials
Characters, diagrams, scenes and visual explainers created to support understanding at the right level for your audience. The illustration is always built around how your learners think, not just what looks good
Design for Curriculum Resources and Toolkits
Workbooks, lesson plans, resource packs and teaching aids designed to be clear, easy to navigate and built with the real classroom in mind. I handle the full range from initial layout through to print-ready files.
Age-Appropriate Design Systems
When you’re producing materials across multiple year groups or key stages, consistency matters. I build design systems that flex appropriately across age ranges, calibrated for different levels of complexity and reading age.
Digital and Platform Design
From learning platform UI to interactive resource design, I bring the same thinking about audience and accessibility to digital projects as I do to print, including gamification and progress structures for online learning environments.
Sensitive and Safeguarding-Aware Illustration
Some of the most important educational content covers difficult subjects, consent, relationships, online safety, bodies, and mental health. I have extensive experience creating illustrations for this kind of material, with the care, clarity and age-appropriateness it demands.
Why me?
I understand that educational materials live or die in the real world, in classrooms, on tablets, in the hands of teachers who need them to work the first time, every time. I’ve worked on everything from primary school resource packs to university outreach programmes, and I know that getting the age-appropriateness, tone, and visual complexity right isn’t just a nice-to-have. It’s the whole job.
I bring fifteen years of education sector experience, a genuine interest in how people learn, and the ability to handle even the most sensitive subject matter with the thoughtfulness it deserves.

Let’s work together.
If you’ve got a project that needs clear, human-centred illustration, design, branding or a combo of all three, I’d love to work with you.
